About The Area
You and your travel companions will find lots to do while you’re here in. America’s favorite playground, Myrtle Beach, is barely 20 miles from here, and the charming southern city of Wilimington, NC is about 50 miles northeast.
If it’s sun and sand you’re looking for, the NC islands of Sunset Beach and Ocean Isle Beach are just minutes away. Cherry Grove, across the bridge in South Carolina is about five miles. These coastal towns are ideal for jet skiing, biking, boating and fishing. For deep sea fishing, Calabash and Little River, SC both offer world class charters, as well as dolphin-watching. You are in golfers’ paradise here, with one course after another designed by some of the industry’s best. Brunswick County alone boasts over 30 courses and is considered one of the east coast’s premier golf destinations, yet there are plenty of offerings for the budget minded golfer, as well. As for shopping, this area is home to some of the country’s best outlet shopping as well as the area’s newest and most upscale mall, Coastal Grand in Myrtle Beach. Specialty shops throughout the coastal community offer a taste of true local color. Be sure to stop by Sunset River Marketplace, also in Calabash. Although there are many new and varied restaurants in the area, Calabash is still known as the “Seafood Capital of the World,” and the famous day-shrimpers still bring in their catch to the local restaurants every day. You haven’t tasted shrimp until you’ve been to Calabash! |
